COVID-19 (coronavirus) is a new respiratory illness we are learning more about daily. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) tell us there is no current vaccine. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus that causes it, utilizing everyday practices, such as handwashing and covering your cough.
The CDC maintains organizations like ours, in conjunction with local health departments, have an important role in slowing the spread of illness, helping ensure the health and well-being of those we serve, as well as our staff. Therefore, it is important we take steps to help limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
To that end, we are recommending the following precautions, similar to flu season guidelines:
Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (or the time it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice). Hand sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol should be used if soap and water are not available.
We will be monitoring the situation and are ready, if necessary, to implement a series of measures we have prepared in order to keep everyone as well as possible.
